Privacy Policy
Effective date: 14 October 2026. This is a pre-launch policy draft for LGBTIQ+ Directory, a South African business directory. It must be reviewed and completed before collecting personal information.
Information we may process
When these features are activated, we may collect business and member account details, contact details, listing information, photographs, reviews, moderation records, subscription and reward records, and technical logs. We should only collect information necessary for each purpose.
Purposes and lawful processing
We use information to operate directory listings, manage accounts, verify providers, moderate reviews, respond to requests, prevent abuse and meet legal obligations. Where consent is required, we will request it separately and provide withdrawal options.
Sharing and retention
Public business listing information may be visible to visitors and search engines. Private account data must not be published. We may use carefully selected hosting, email, payment and security processors subject to appropriate safeguards. Retention periods will be set according to purpose and legal obligations.
Your rights
Under South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), individuals may request access or correction, object to certain processing and submit complaints to the Information Regulator, subject to applicable law.
Contact and corrections
Before launch, publish the responsible legal entity, Information Officer contact details and privacy email address on the contact page. Do not enter sensitive information in public reviews.
